At
Bugs and Beasts our animals are our pets first and foremost.
They are looked after in the best way possible and our presenter
has spent a lot of time researching how to care for them
properly. During shows animals will not be put at risk even
if this means individuals cannot handle the animal in a way
we would normally encourage.
All
animals are checked before being taken out and if there is
a problem with a request we will make every effort to get
in touch to arrange either an alternative or to rearrange
the show. If we cannot get in touch with the person responsible
for booking the show our ranger will bring along a number
of alternative animals that will be suitable as a replacement.
If
an animal that has been requested dies up to 24 hours before
the show is due to take place we may request that the show
be rearranged with a free show being offered to make up for
the inconvenience. Alernatively customers will be offered
a full refund on their deposit.
- Our
presenters have the right to stop a show at any point if
participants are not following the guidelines laid down
before the show starts. These guidelines are for health
and safety reasons and must be adhered to.
- Our
presenters will not allow children under 2 to hold some of the animals though they can stroke them instead.
- Due
to our insurance policy we can not present to more than
30 people in one show.
- Every
effort will be made to ensure that everyone can participate
in our shows but occasionally it may not be suitable for
individuals to handle a particular animal.
- If
an animal appears too stressed to be used in a show an alternative
will be used. We cannot guarantee that animals will not
have an "off-day" and we will not stress an animal
further by using it in these cases.
- Although
we can present to 30 individuals consideration must be given
to the amount of room available. Ideally there should be
room for children to sit in a circle or in rows. Our presenter
will not be able to step over children in order to reach
others for health and safety reasons.
- Our Hogg Island boa cannot be used in the same show as our
rats as snakes have a keen sense of smell and may become
excited at the smell of rats. If a rat and snake are required
for a show then a corn snake must be used instead.
- We
require notice of any members of our audience that have
special needs whom we will cater for. This may include using
more robust animals which will not be stressed by rougher
handling. Failure to inform us of this may result in our
ranger bringing animals which cannot be handled as well
as others.
- Our
rabbits will not be used in open shows
- If rabbits are required for a full days worth of shows or are visiting venues more than 40 miles from our presenters home they will require toilet breaks. Our presenter will bring along a small collapsable run and litter tray to allow them the chance to "use the facilities". A quiet room must be available for them to do so as it is potentially dangerous for them to just "hold it in".
