Magic has been in to have the dead tissue resulting from an infection removed. She has had her wounds cleaned, been stitched up again and is being allowed home today. Given this is the second operation she’s had in the space of a week she won’t be taking part in shows until the summer depending on how her health is.
When we adopted Magic from Paws Here in Edinburgh we were worried about a swelling under the base of her tail. Given female rats ae prone to mammary tumors we assumed this was what we were seeing. However a trip to the vet confirmed that the swelling was being caused by a hernia and our vet was confident it could be repaired with an operation. Magic had the op on Monday the 16th January but there turned out to be a lot of foul smelling fluid within the swelling. She was sent home on antibiotics but some of the tissue in the area has stated to die. She goes back to the vet this coming Monday (the 23rd) to possibly have the dead tissue removed and the swelling drained and cleaned.
We have taken on a very cute (in our opinion) little guy to take part in shows. Meet Bandit the New Caledonian crested gecko. He’s very tame but has rather sticky feet.
After being forced to shut down temporalily Bugs n’ Beasts will be back for the summer of 2012. As before our presenter is fully insured and disclosed and is currently studying a post grad diploma in education.
