Toads

Jerry & Jeemy

Jeemy and Jerry are European green toads but their pattern varies so much that it’s very easy to think that two from different areas are in fact different species. Jeemy is an adult toad though he is not quite as large as his tank mate Jerry.

These two enjoy nothing more than sitting around snapping up any helpless bug that passes by them. They will eat anything that moves which they are able to stuff in their mouths. After catching a bug they will blink very hard so that their eyeballs assist in pushing the food down their short throats.

Jeemy and Jerry live in a 36″ fish tank with hood and UV lighting. On the bottom of the cage there is organic compost mixed with dry coir substrate (coconute fibre) while there are also cork bark hides. A section of the tank has been seperated into a swimming pool which has a small biological filter to keep it clean. The cage is heated with a heat pad that is stuck to the side of the tank. There are also half flower pots buried in the substrate for the toads to hide in.
