Jerry

DOB: Unknown

Jerry is a European Green toad who was most probably wild caught. He was retired as soon as we aquired his cage mate Jeemy because despite working fairly often he never got used to travelling and showed distress every time he went in the car. His working life was around 5 months and in that time he visited a number of schools.

Jerry now lives with Jeemy and though they are not social animals we am hoping to breed these toads in the future when we find them a nice girlfriend. We have heard the two of them calling at night on occassion which shows they are also looking for a nice lady toad. These toads are bred in Europe and the UK as pets but unfortunately many are still taken from the wild.

Jeemy and Jerry live in a 30" fish tank with hood and UV lighting. On the bottom of the cage there is organic compost mixed with dry choir substrate (coconute fibre) while there are also cork bark hides and a large planting tray is used as a swimming pool. The cage is heated with a heat pad that is stuck to the side of the tank. There are also half flower pots buried in the substrate for the toads to hide in. They enjoy burrowing into the soil.
